First of all, who would have thought Montgomery of all people was involved in Beckett's mom's case? I mean him, a dirty cop on some level? I can't say I'm mad at him, though, he did most certainly die a hero. I'm gonna miss Montgomery, it's just too bad it had to end like this for him. I mean, poor guy, he was only a rookie when he got involved and he didn't kill anybody...on purpose...his gun just sort of went off. I just don't like that he was involved at all. I liked the guy, I don't want him to be a dirty cop. Should I be mad at him? Probably, but I liked the guy! He wasn't a bad guy, he worked hard to make up for it.
And of course the more major point...Beckett has a freakin' bullet in her! They shot her at a funeral! Castle was pretty awesome in defending Beckett this episode with the way he carried her out of danger when Montgomery said for him to and how he was so ready to take that bullet for her. Apparently the bravery counts for nothing. I'm not too worried since you can't really have Castle without Beckett, but still! Gunshot wound!
And finally...Castle said "I love you" to Beckett! Ha! Finally you own up! Of course it probably will be ignored/shrugged off on account of the fact she'd just been shot when he told her so she probably won't remember...or he'll say it was cuz he thought she was dying or something...sometimes I hate these writers and my friends for making me realize that the above scenarios are pretty probable. But still, he said it! Let me have my moment.
In all honesty, I do think the writers are brilliant. It was a good episode. Lots of intense moments, some pretty good writing and excellent acting. I just can't say I like the ending all that much. I mean...Montgomery dead...Beckett shot...have to wait a few months now. I don't like cliffhangers. At all.
So yeah...I really had to say something about that. Sorry if that sounds like a rant, because I don't think it's much of a "review."
