I watched two movies recently which I'm going to use to make a point. The first was Chicago. The second was To Kill a Mockingbird.
To Kill a Mockingbird is one of my all-time favorites. It's a great story and teaches us so much. Chicago...well, it teaches us how easy it is to get away with murder in 1920's Chicago. But it's got great music and is a good movie.
Most movies today just aren't as good to me. They don't usually have much of a plot. Either it's a horror film (which I'm not a big fan of), or it's just non-stop violence (I prefer some story to a movie) or it's a comedy (most comedy today is the kind I find stupid and annoying). Anything that seems good to me is probably a remake or based off a book.
Why can't there be more movies like To Kill a Mockingbird that actually give you something to think about? That actually have a plot, and aren't completely mindless or just graphic. Is a good story too much to ask from a movie? I mean, I can't be the only one who likes stories. It's a good thing I like to read. In books, you kind of need a plot to make it work.
Total agreement.
